Sunday Chat – Books, Garden, Cooking from From My Carolina Home

I finally got some time to do some sewing this week, finish a book, and take some photos of the garden. The daffodils continue to produce more blooms, such happy faces. I now have three separate areas in bloom, with a fourth one on the way.

This one next to the retaining wall is doing well.

In the front, these are in the hosta bed, and are the first things to come up.

In the front flower bed, three little hyacinths are trying to put on a show. The creamy yellow one looks pretty, and smells so good.

Finishing Up and Getting Ready from From My Carolina Home

Finishing up the Quilt of Valor this week was easy, as my machine behaved itself. Amazingly, I ran out of bobbin thread at the end of a pass each time, so no tying off in the middle of the quilt. That doesn’t happen often! I used white Glide thread on top, and white Bottom Line in the bobbin.

The pantograph is Blue Star from Urban Elementz.

Black Bean Garlic Pot Roast from From My Carolina Home

Having fun with sew days and virtual retreats sometimes means firing up the slow cooker to have a hot meal at the end of the day. I’ve talked about Asian influences in food before, and I really like the Black Bean Garlic Sauce I found in the Asian foods aisle at the grocery store. It is packed with flavor!
